Always, always leave plenty of room in front of your vehicle!Regardless of if your rig is a 40-tonne heavy haul truck, or a 2-tonne minivan, keeping room between you and the vehicle in front of you can be the difference between life and death in the face of an accident. We know it can be very frustrating if you are only traveling 50 mph, and everyone else is doing 65 mph, BUT it can keep you out of trouble. This “buffer” or “cushion” zone in front of your rig will provide you with the braking room you need if the unexpected occurs. Here at Stryder, we apply the five-seconds rule (and no, we’re not talking about the food five-seconds rule). This refers to the amount of distance between you and the car in front of you, which you can space out by using a stationary item (like a tree or a road sign) to count out the space between yourself and the other vehicle. We stress the importance of this rule to our drivers, and we believe it’s something all drivers should follow regardless of their ride. Stay safe out there!#staysafe #driversafety #thankatrucker #safetyfirst #teamhorsepower ... See MoreSee Less

Happy Friday all! Before we head into the weekend, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate an amazing member of our team. Congratulations to Seana, this week’s Feel Good Friday winner! Her eagerness to learn and quick thinking immediately made her a valuable asset and leader in the division over the next 18 months. Most recently Seana moved from our Warehousing Division to the Transport Division and has adapted to her new role quickly. Within a few weeks, she established herself as a leader in the transport team and we look forward to watching her continue to grow and develop within our dynamic transport group.Thank you Seana for your adaptability and exemplary performance. It’s true that some like it hot… but your vehicle (especially your truck) does not. That’s why we’re sharing with you some driver-approved safety tips to ensure that you’re staying safe on the road as the temperatures continue to rise:1. Tires - Is your tire too hot to handle? If yes - give it some time to cool down. Air pressure increases with temperature, and a “too hot” tire could potentially blow out.2. Engine Oil - Make sure you’re properly topped up before embarking on any long-haul journey in the heat of the day (or night) to allow your engine to stay cool and lubricated throughout the drive.3. Engine Coolant - Is there enough water and antifreeze in your engine cooling system in accordance with your manual? If yes - good - if not - address this before your commute to avoid engine failure and possibly fire.4. Engine Belts - Your ride should be a tight ship! And that includes your engine belts - loose belts will not turn the water pump and/or fan properly, resulting in a hot mess for your engine.5. Hoses - Are all your coolant hoses in good condition? Ensure they are before hitting the road as a broken hose can lead to engine failure and even fire.Lastly, take it slow! High speeds mixed with high temps will drastically increase your chances for engine failure - slow and steady is truly the trick for winning this race.Stay safe out there and keep following us to learn new road safety tips that benefit not just our drivers on the road, but you too!#safetyfirst #driversafety #usecaution #safetytip #heatwavebc #worksafe #truckdriversafety ... Another weekend awaits… but before we get there, we’re excited to take a moment to celebrate an amazing member of our team. Congratulations to Kevin, this week’s Feel Good Friday winner! As a member of Logic-ology, the logistics division of the Stryder Group of Companies, Kevin’s contributed to the success of our Eastern operations since he joined us back in September of 2020. From day one, he’s proven to be a magician when it comes to handling large volumes of our cross-border FTL shipments, always finding a way to make things happen despite any obstacles. Additionally, he coordinates local GTA loads on a daily basis, ensuring all shipments get where they’re needed when they’re needed. Kevin works closely with numerous carrier partners and is continually building mutually beneficial partnerships with them while staying on top of competitive industry rates as they fluctuate. As a key asset of Logic-ology’s impressive growth since its early days, Kevin now shares his industry expertise with the entire L.O. team, and is always the first to offer support to new team members when needed! Thank you Kevin for all you bring to the company, we’re grateful to have you and honoured to recognize you as this week’s Feel Good Friday winner! Have a great weekend all! Keep on truckin’ on. ...
