This week was a wild one as the Pacific Northwest got hit by a heavy snowfall that saw 7-hour-plus traffic delays, closed highways and bridges, and stranded citizens. In light of Jack Frost paying a hefty visit to the Lower Mainland, we’d like to use today’s Feel Good Friday to shout-out the employees at our Richmond facilities, led by our warehouse manager Justin and others, who pulled through when things were looking dire outside on Tuesday night. When the snowfall turned into a blizzard and blanketed the roads, leaving many uncertain about getting home safely or in reasonable time, Justin and his team ensured that those who were going to attempt the journey had safety reserves in their cars, extra salt (just in case) and a safety vest, while helping prepare many who decided to take a shot at getting home. They worked to create makeshift sleeping quarters for both warehouse and front office staff who decided to try and wait it out – all while staying calm, cool and collected as stress levels and emotions were at a high as the snowstorm raged on. Once the roads opened up again, Justin happily offered rides to any in need despite their end destination and helped arrange alternative transport solutions for others, ensuring that no person was left behind. It wasn’t exactly what we had in mind for a “Stryder Slumber Party”, but thanks to the good spirits of Justin and the teams working that night, and their awesome displays of generosity, care, and concern for those stranded, there was a warm resolution to a particularly cold evening. A big Thank You to Justin and everyone who assisted for your heroic acts of kindness!#FGF #warehousehero #stryderpride #loveourteam #thankyou #richmondbc ... See MoreSee Less

As snow season approaches, road hazards become ever more apparent, including the dreaded “black ice” that can creep up on unsuspecting motorists.Black ice is a thin coat of highly transparent ice that blends in with road pavements, making it nearly impossible to see in most conditions. It can often be found on bridges and overpasses, as well as in shaded areas that receive less sunlight. For this week’s instalment of our Safe Winter Driving series, check out these pointers on how you can be better prepared the next time you encounter black ice:⚠️ Don’t turn your steering wheel – keep it straight. Turning it creates a higher chance of your vehicle sliding out and losing control.⚠️ Foot off the brake! Braking will make your vehicle skid on the ice, especially if you do it too hard and suddenly.⚠️ Reduce your speed by easing off the accelerator. If you can, shift down to a lower gear.⚠️ Head for areas of traction if possible. Snow-covered spots can be helpful.⚠️ If you start to skid, the number one rule is to stay calm! Black ice is usually patchy, so you’re likely to gain traction again after a moment or two.Don’t let icy roads ruin your holiday season (or your sweet new ride) – to all of our motoring friends out there, Stay Stryder Safe!#safetyfirst #safedriving #truckersafety #winterdriving #blackice #truckersunite #stryder #teamhorsepower #thankatrucker ... He’s the Man of Many Names to the team here: “Doc”, “MD”, “the remedy to any problem”, and “our wonderful friend” – but to most, he’s Mike D., and our honourable Feel Good Friday winner for this week!Mike joined Stryder’s Warehousing division in February of this year and quickly proved himself to be a rockstar. Known for his reliability, thoroughness, and efficiency as a Forklift Operator and great camaraderie with his teammates, Mike never hesitates to take on a challenging task and does it with precision and focus. He’s an outstanding employee in all aspects of his job and we couldn’t be happier to be recognizing and rewarding him this week for his effort and attitude on the floor. From the whole crew here at Stryder, thank you Mike for all that you do!#loveourteam #warehousesuperstar #FGF #stryderpride #employeeappreciation ...
